About the Race
Enjoy a summer evening on Duluth’s beautiful Park Point!
All net proceeds from the Park Point 5-Miler benefit the Young Athletes Foundation (YAF). The YAF was developed by Grandma’s Marathon in 1990 to assist with the promotion, development and growth of youth athletics. The YAF supports young athletes and locally under-represented sports programs in Carlton, Cook, Douglas, Lake and St. Louis Counties.
The Park Point 5-Miler starts near the Park Point Pavilion in Duluth and participants run down Minnesota Avenue before finishing back near the Pavilion.
A 2-mile walk and short races for children accompany the 5-mile run. These races are held on the soccer field at the end of Park Point.
Race Packet Pick-Up
Race Packet Pick-Up will be held at the Pavilion nearest the Beach House on Park Point on race day from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Beginning at approximately 6:15 p.m., Minnesota Avenue will be closed temporarily from 2328 Minnesota Avenue to the South side of the ball fields. This portion of Minnesota Avenue will reopen at approximately 7:15 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation and support for this event.
Important Race Rules
No motor vehicles, bicycles, baby joggers, strollers, hand cycles, hand-cranked wheelchairs, roller skis, inline skates, pets or unofficial participants are allowed on the racecourse. Wheelchair athletes must race under their own individual power.
The 2-mile race-walk is a non-monitored recreational walk. Awards are given on an honor system. If you are registered for the 2-mile walk, you must walk the entire distance – no running is allowed. For the safety of all participants, the use of headphones or other similar devices is not allowed during the Park Point 5-Miler, 2-Mile Walk and/or Youth Races.
Per USATF rules, open division and all age division awards for the Park Point 5-Mile Run will be determined based on Gun Time.
An award ceremony will be held for the 5-Mile Run and 2-Mile Walk following the 5-Mile Run at the Pavilion nearest the Beach House.
