Registration
THE 20TH ANNUAL GARRY BJORKLUND HALF MARATHON IS ON SATURDAY, JUNE 19, 2010
Registration for the 2010 Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon will be conducted through a random lottery process. Those interested in participating can register for the lottery from 12:01 a.m. (CST) on Wednesday, February 17 through 8:00 a.m. (CST) on Monday, March 1, 2010. On Monday, March 1, 5,000 participants will be randomly selected. By March 4th, registrants will receive an email stating whether or not they were selected in the lottery. Your credit card will be charged ONLY if you are selected in the lottery.
ENTERING THE LOTTERY WITH ANOTHER PERSON OR GROUP OF PEOPLE: Runners may enter the lottery selection as a Group. This group feature allows registration for up to 6 friends/family members (e.g. husband/wife pairs) who only want to run the races if certain other people are allowed to run. Everyone in that group is either all in if selected, or all out, if not selected. Your average likelihood of being selected will not be affected by being part of a group.
When registering with a group, choose one person to register for the lottery first. This person will create a group name at the time he or she registers. Once the group name is created (by the first person in the group to register), other group members will be able to search for the group name and register for the lottery with that group.
ENTRY FEE: $75 + processing fee (U.S. Funds). Entry fees are non-refundable, and the transfer of race numbers is NOT allowed.
LOTTERY LIMIT: The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is limited to 5,000 participants accepted through a lottery procedure (more details above).
CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY:
Entries for all three races will be confirmed via email immediately after registering. For the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, registrants will receive two emails, one confirming their entry into the lottery and another stating whether or not their entry was selected in the lottery.
Official confirmation cards will be mailed to all registrants within six weeks of registering. Your credit card will only be charged if you were accepted into the race.
TIME REQUIREMENT: A policy regarding time requirements will be implemented for the half marathon. The policy requires participants to maintain a 14-minute per mile pace (finish in 3:03:40). Those unable to maintain this pace along the course will be bused back to the DECC parking lot. Failure to comply with this time policy will result in immediate disqualification.
IMPORTANT:The transfer of race numbers from one person to the other or from one race to another is NOT allowed. Also, giving or selling your race number to another person is against race policy. Violation of these rules will jeopardize your participation in future Grandma's Marathon events.
